FAQ

  • Overlap: the excess canvas extends beyond the top of the wall and is secured with coping stones. Versatile and economical.
  • U-bead: the canvas has a J-shaped profile that clips directly onto the top of the wall (can often be converted to beaded). Practical if you don't have a beaded rail.

On average, 8 to 12 years depending on UV exposure, water chemistry (pH/alkalinity), winterization, and usage. Poorly balanced water or direct sunlight without cover accelerates aging.

A darker pattern absorbs more radiation and can provide a perceived temperature increase of 1–2 °C under good sunlight conditions. However, it may show more marks (limescale, scratches) and make folds more visible in raking light.

Highly recommended (though not mandatory):

  • Cushion against pebbles/irregularities,
  • Less abrasion, therefore greater longevity.
  • Cleaner installation (smooth surface)
  • A slight increase in warmth and comfort underfoot.

Choose a mild, sunny day with little wind, and the vinyl should be around 20–27 °C (late spring or summer). At this time, the vinyl will be flexible and stretch without cracking.

  • pH 7.2–7.6 Total alkalinity 80–120 ppm (vinyl).
  • Free chlorine 1–3 ppm and stabilizing30–50 ppm.
  • Avoid over-chlorination prolonged and pH < 7.0 (liner that wrinkles)
  • For salt water: salt in the manufacturer's range, clean cell, no excess stabilizer.
