FAQ

Yes, as soon as it is obstructed.A blocked bottom drain reduces suction, overloads the pump, and degrades circulation.

Very rarely. A replacement is not being considered.that if:

  • THE The ground has shifted.(sagging, misalignment that distorts the assembly),
  • THE The drain body or piping is cracked/broken.(often following the winter frost),
  • theregrille/lidis damaged (to be replaced immediately for thesecurity).

Crack or break of drain body or of the piping(often after the freeze winter).

Renovation (change of covering/canvas): we take this opportunity toto change the bottom drain.

To clean a bottom drain, start by increasing the flow through it: close the skimmer and fully open the drain valve so the pump can draw water from the bottom. You can also use a jet of water to dislodge any fine dirt or deposits that have accumulated in the line. Regular maintenance of the filter and pump also helps prevent debris from building up and clogging the drain.

To clear a bottom drain, start by closing the skimmer and opening the drain valve to force the pump to draw water through it. If the blockage persists, use a high-pressure water jet to push the obstruction through. In some cases, a technician may need to use a drain snake to completely clear the line. Very low flow or air bubbles often indicate a partially blocked line.

To close the bottom drain, simply close the dedicated valve located near the pump.

To drain an above-ground pool using the main drain, close the skimmer valve and fully open the main drain valve. The pump will then begin drawing water directly from the bottom of the pool. You can lower the water level to the minimum the pump can draw. For complete drainage, a submersible pump will be necessary, as the main drain cannot empty the water completely.

The "best" robot depends primarily on your pool. Electric robots like Dolphin (Maytronics), Hayward, or Wybot are the most effective at cleaning the bottom, walls, and waterline. For most residential pools, an electric robot with active brushes, a large basket, and an intelligent cleaning cycle offers the best performance-to-maintenance ratio.

The installation of a main drain is done during the pool assembly process. The drain is placed perfectly centered on the bottom, the plumbing is connected with flexible PVC pipe or pipe leading to the skimmer, and then everything is covered with sand or pool liner material to protect the pool's edge. The liner is then installed on top. The drain must be watertight, securely fastened, and properly aligned to ensure good water circulation.
