It sequesters iron/copper to prevent stains and colored water. It should be dosed especially after filling (well water or high metals) and when topping up water.

Foam in a spa is usually caused by body oils, soap residues, hair products, lotions, debris, or insufficient filtration. When the hot water and jets are running, these residues mix and create foam on the surface. To remove the foam, you can use a temporary anti-foam product, clean or replace the filter, and check the water balance. If the foam keeps coming back, a plumbing line cleaner or a full spa drain and refill may be necessary to restore clean water.

It improves comfort (softer water, reduced odors) but does not replace properly adjusted pH, alkalinity and hardness.

They break down oils/lotions, limit oily line and help keep filters cleaner, in addition to disinfectant.

Phosphates are nutrients found in water, often introduced through lotions, shampoos, organic debris, or even the fill water itself. In a spa, high phosphate levels can reduce the effectiveness of chlorine or bromine and contribute to cloudy water or buildup. To remove them, you can use a phosphate remover and let the spa filter for several hours before cleaning the filter. Regular phosphate testing helps maintain clearer, easier-to-balance water.

Discolored spa water (brown, green, yellow, or orange) is often caused by the presence of metals such as iron, copper, or manganese. When you add chlorine or bromine, these metals oxidize and change the water's color.

To correct the situation, a metal sequestrant is used, a product that neutralizes and stabilizes metals to prevent discoloration. It is also recommended to clean or replace the filter after treatment, as it will retain some of the impurities.

To soften spa water, you can use a water softener specifically designed for spas, or add a sequestering agent to reduce the effects of calcium and minerals. Water that is too hard can cause limescale buildup, shorten the lifespan of equipment, and make the water less pleasant for the skin.
