FAQ

  • Overlap: the excess liner extends beyond the top of the wall and is secured with coping stones. Versatile and economical.
  • U-bead: the liner has a J-shaped profile that clips directly onto the top of the wall (can often be converted to beaded). Practical if you don't have a beaded rail.

On average, 8 to 12 years depending on UV exposure, water chemistry (pH/alkalinity), winterization, and usage. Poorly balanced water or direct sunlight without cover accelerates aging.

A darker pattern absorbs more radiation and can provide a perceived temperature increase of 1–2 °C under good sunlight conditions. However, it may show more marks (limescale, scratches) and make folds more visible in raking light.

Highly recommended (though not mandatory):

  • Cushion against pebbles/irregularities,
  • Less abrasion, therefore greater longevity.
  • Cleaner installation (smooth surface)
  • A slight increase in warmth and comfort underfoot.

Choose a mild, sunny day with little wind, and the vinyl should be around 20–27 °C (late spring or summer). At this time, the vinyl will be flexible and stretch without cracking.

To prolong the life of a pool liner, it is essential to maintain well-balanced water at all times. Stable chemistry prevents premature wear of the vinyl, avoids wrinkles, and protects both the color and the flexibility of the material.

To install a new above-ground pool liner, start by completely draining the pool and removing the old liner. Then, check the condition of the bottom, underlay, and walls, and make any necessary repairs. Lay the new liner down the center of the pool, secure it to the top of the wall, and gently adjust it, smoothing out any wrinkles. Fill the pool slowly, adjusting the liner as the water level rises to ensure a taut installation. Proper preparation and gradual filling are essential to prevent wrinkles and extend the liner's lifespan.

To remove wrinkles from a pool liner, the best method is to let the water do the work. Fill the pool slowly and, as the water level rises, use your feet or a soft brush to push the wrinkles toward the walls. The water exerts even pressure, which helps the liner stretch naturally. It's important to do this step while filling the pool because once it's full, the wrinkles become much harder to correct. If the wrinkles are significant or persistent, it may be necessary to partially drain the pool to readjust the liner properly.

To repair a pool liner, use a repair kit designed for vinyl. First, clean the area around the hole or tear, then apply a self-adhesive patch or piece of vinyl with the provided adhesive. Most repairs can be done directly in the water, as long as the surface is clean. For larger tears, a larger patch or an exterior and interior repair may be necessary. If the liner is very old, brittle, or has multiple tears, it is often more economical and safer to replace it completely.
