Installing a heat pump or water heater at your pool

Here's some important information about installing your heat pump or water heater.

- Location of heat pump or water heater: Install the unit in an open area, on a      stable, flat and solid surface, to ensure good air circulation and optimal operation.   Avoid installing it in a shed, on grass or on any unstable ground, as this could   cause the unit to become unbalanced and impair its efficiency due to poor   ventilation.

- Connection to existing plumbing : The heat pump or water heater must be installed after the filter to ensure clean water and prevent debris build-up in the unit. In addition, any sanitation system, such as a salt system, ozonator or chlorinator, must be placed after the heat pump or water heater to prevent internal damage caused by chemicals.

- Equipment protection: Installing a bypass is mandatory for gas, propane and electric water heaters, as well as heat pumps. This allows water to be diverted from the appliance during servicing, maintenance or temporary disconnection, without disturbing the pool's filtration system.

- Flow control: The bypass also regulates the flow of water through the heat pump or water heater, helping to avoid excessively high or low water flows that could damage the equipment. It also helps maintain optimum flow to ensure proper operation of the unit.

- Pipe connections: Make sure all pipe connections are tight and leak-proof. Also check that the materials used are suitable to withstand the pressure and temperature of the water flowing through the system.

Safe and compliant installation!

Whether you opt for a heat pump, electric water heater or gas water heater, it's essential to call on certified professionals for installation. For electrical connections, a qualified electrician is required to ensure the safety and proper operation of the equipment. As for gas installations, they require the intervention of a certified gas specialist to guarantee a safe, standards-compliant installation.
