Step 1: Measure the Outside Dimensions Using a rigid tape measure, measure the outer dimensions of your spa from edge to edge, in inches. Always measure at the widest point, including the spa’s rim (but not any jets or accessories that stick out). Key Measurements to Take: Length (L): the longest side of the spa Width (W): the side perpendicular to the length Corner radius: the distance between the corner of an imaginary right angle and where the curve of the spa begins (see step 2) Step 2: Measure the Radius of Rounded Corners This step is essential to ensure your new cover fits perfectly. Use a square or two rigid rulers to form a 90-degree angle above one of the spa’s rounded corners. Then, measure the distance from the intersection of the rulers to the point where the curve of the corner begins. This measurement, in inches, is the corner radius, and it helps customize the shape of your new cover. When you want to empty your spa by gravity for the first time, you need to find the drain valve first. Take it out of the spa by carefully pulling on it with pliers, then unscrew it. Afterward, you can connect a conventional garden hose and you will notice that the water does not come out instantly. It is to prevent the water to flow on you once you remove the lid and while you connect your hose. If you carry out the manipulations for the first time, there will be a resistance when you will try to release the valve. Use a flat-head screwdriver and detach the junction to release the valve. Do not pull the hose, it could damage your spa valve. Emptying a spa by gravity can take a few hours, therefore you should plan this in advance mainly if you are doing it during colder days.
