A cartridge filter ensures fine and consistent filtration of your pool water. To maximize its efficiency and extend its lifespan, here are some good maintenance practices to follow:

1. Regular cleaning of the cartridge
It is recommended to clean the filter cartridge every two weeks during the swimming season, or more often if the water is used a lot (heatwave, high traffic, pollen, etc.).

2. Deep cleaning (descaling)
Perform a deep cleaning once a summer using a descaling product specifically designed for filter cartridges. This cleaning removes oils, limescale deposits, or chemical residues that can accumulate in the pleats, even after regular rinsing.

3. Replacing the cartridge
A filter cartridge has an average lifespan of 2 to 3 years, depending on maintenance and pool usage. However, if you have a multi-cartridge filter, the lifespan of each cartridge can be extended, since the filtration load is distributed between them. To install a filter, first position the filter on a stable surface and level the unit. Connect the inlet (INLET) from the pump and the outlet (OUTLET) to the pool according to the manufacturer's diagram. Then open the cover, insert the cartridge(s) into their slots, and securely close the cover using the locking ring. Remember to apply lubricant to the cover seal. Purge the air using the designated valve, then start the pump to check for proper operation and leaks.


For a water filter (swimming pool), the cartridge must be changed when it is clogged, damaged, or when the pressure increases abnormally. Generally, pool cartridges are replaced every 1 to 3 years, or more often depending on usage. An old cartridge reduces filtration efficiency and increases the load on the pump.

To change a filter cartridge, first turn off the pump and release the pressure using the air valve on top of the filter. Then open the cover, remove the old cartridge, and rinse the inside of the housing if necessary. Insert the new cartridge, making sure it is centered and seated firmly in the filter housing. Remember to apply lubricant to the cover gasket. Replace the cover, tighten the clamp, and restart the pump. Check for leaks.


The filter draws water from the pool via the pump and then sends it through the filter media (sand, glass, cartridge). Particles are trapped, and clean water returns to the pool. Over time, the filter accumulates dirt, which increases internal pressure. Backwashing or regular cleaning removes impurities and restores effective filtration.



To connect a filter, first connect the pump outlet (port “PUMP”) to the filter inlet. Then, connect the filter outlet (port “RETURN”) to the pool's return jets. If you are using a sand filter, ensure the multiport valve is correctly positioned in the “FILTER” position. Check all connections, tighten the clamps, and prime the pump if necessary. Proper installation ensures good circulation and optimal filtration.


A filter cartridge typically needs replacing every 1 to 3 years, depending on pool usage, water quality, and filter maintenance. If the pressure rises rapidly, the cartridge remains dirty despite thorough cleaning, or the pleats are damaged, soft, or crushed, it's time for a replacement. A worn cartridge reduces filtration efficiency and can overload the pump.

To maintain good flow, rinse the cartridge with clean water every 2 to 4 weeks, paying particular attention to the pleats to remove sand, oil, and debris. For a deeper clean, soak the cartridge in a degreaser or a cleaner specifically designed for filters, then rinse thoroughly before reinstalling it.
