How do an ozonator and a chlorinator work
An ozonator produces ozone, which is drawn into the pool through the pipes. Ozone is a powerful sanitizer that will oxidize contaminants in the water. When you purchase an ozonator with your pool, you'll receive a plumbing kit that will be attached to your plumbing during pool installation. The installers will also connect a green tube that will be connected to an ozone-producing box. To ensure the system is safe and effective, it's your responsibility to secure this box and the green tube attached to it above the pool's water level. Ideally, the tube should be replaced every year. Make sure the small arrow on the tube points toward the pipes and not the box. To ensure the water is properly disinfected, an ozone system owner must also add a small amount of chlorine. To facilitate this addition, Trévi strongly recommends the use of a chlorinator or chlorine dispenser. These devices, which can be easily installed by the customer at a later date, allow for a constant distribution of chlorine throughout the pool using tablets inserted into a designated container. When using a chlorinator, it is recommended to add a maximum of one or two chlorine tablets at a time and to set the flow rate to a high setting to avoid premature wear of the device. It is also essential to never use granular chlorine in this type of equipment, as this could cause a dangerous reaction.

Non, un chlorinateur n’est pas obligatoire. Il sert simplement à distribuer les pastilles de chlore de façon constante et sécuritaire. On peut très bien chlorer la piscine manuellement, mais un chlorinateur simplifie le dosage et stabilise mieux le niveau de chlore.


Le chlorinateur in-line s’installe directement sur la ligne de retour, après le filtre et le chauffe-eau. Le modèle off-line se branche à l’aide de deux tuyaux flexibles : un raccord sur la ligne haute pression après la pompe et un sur la ligne de retour. Dans les deux cas, assurez-vous d’installer la flèche dans le sens de circulation et d’utiliser des unions pour faciliter l’entretien.


Drain the water, open the dispenser (lid removed), disassemble the off-line tubes and store in a dry place.


  • Seals & tubes: every 1–2 years (or as soon as cracks/leaks appear).
  • Non-return valve: annual if exposed to concentrated chlorine.
  • Lid: to be replaced if it turns white/cracks (loss of sealing).


Always keep a minimum number of tablets in the chamber; adjust the valve to maintain 1–3 ppm free chlorine.

Check O-rings, cover, off-line tubing (cracks) and check valve.

Rinse the inside if there are deposits (turn off the pump; handle with gloves).


  • Trichlor tablets/sticks (stabilized chlorine) only, designed for chlorinator or floating dispenser.
  • Never use: calcium-hypochlorite-based chlorine (risk of a violent reaction) or a mixture of chlorine types. Never mix products in the same appliance.


The water flows through a dosing unit that slowly melts the solid chlorine and injects it into the return circuit. The flow rate is adjusted by a small adjustable valve.

J’ai un problème avec mon chlorinateur neuf. Il n’y a aucune quincaillerie dans la boîte! Je veux faire un retour.
Nous vous confirmons que ce modèle de chlorinateur ne comprend pas de quincaillerie dans la boîte, puisqu’il s’installe directement sur la plomberie de la piscine. Les adaptateurs nécessaires pour le raccordement à votre tuyauterie doivent être achetés séparément, selon votre installation.
