Comme le spa est un petit bassin rempli d'eau chaude, il faut porter une attention particulière à son entretien puisque c'est un milieu propice à la multiplication des bactéries. Trévi a mis sur pied, avec ses partenaires, deux trousses complètes pour l'entretien de votre spa pendant 3 mois consécutifs. La Trousse Trio contient trois produits. Avant de commencer tout nettoyage, il est conseillé de retirer les appuis-tête et les cartouches de filtration afin de ne rien abîmer et de fermer les valves d'air. Ensuite, avant même de vidanger votre eau, versez le nettoyant régénérant de spa directement dans l'eau du spa afin d'entretenir la tuyauterie et laissez un bon brassage pendant une quinzaine de minutes. Lorsque le brassage est terminé, vidangez l'eau et remplissez votre spa à nouveau. Lorsque votre spa est rempli, ajoutez le produit adoucissant / optimisant, afin de rendre l'eau douce et agréable à la baignade pendant 3 mois. Par la suite, une fois par semaine, utilisez une enveloppe de clarifiant / adoucissant qui agira comme votre traitement choc afin d'éliminer les impuretés dans l'eau. La Trousse Trio ne contient pas de produit d'assainissement, vous pouvez donc choisir le produit de votre choix. Lorsque vous ajoutez les différents produits de la Trousse Trio, nous vous conseillons de laisser les jets fonctionner pour une vingtaine de minutes et de laisser le couvercle ouvert. Il est aussi recommandé de faire tester votre eau en succursale aux 3 mois afin de vous assurer d'avoir une eau saine et sécuritaire en tout temps.

If we want the water to circulate well in the pipes and be pleasant to swim in, we must make sure that all the equipment in the spa is properly cleaned. Which means descaling the plumbing, sanitizing the water, and removing bacteria. We recommend cleaning the plumbing when you drain the spa water every 3 to 4 months. Many products are available, depending on your superstore: Whirl, Whirl Pro or Swirl Away.  Before starting, it’s critical to remove the headrests to avoid damaging them. Also remove the cartridges since some products can produce foam when the filtration cycle is running, and it could get into the cartridges. To prevent foam from getting into the air valves, close them.  If you’re using the Whirl or Swirl Away, pour the content in the water as per directions on bottle. Depending on the product used and the volume of water, run the filtration cycle from 1 to 4 hours, then drain the water.  For the Whirl Pro, sprinkle products 1 and 2 directly on the spa water and let the filtration cycle run for 4 hours. Then, sprinkle product 3 and leave it for about 15 minutes. It’s important to let the cover open during the filtration cycle. Be aware that the spa timer will automatically shut off the pumps after 20 minutes, so you should start them regularly to ensure that the water circulates through the entire system. When the circulation is complete, drain the water. An advantage of the Whirl Pro is that it doesn’t foam.  After the process, do a good cleaning of the acrylic. You can watch our video tutorial: “How to Keep Your Spa Cover and Acrylic in Good Condition” to help you with that. Fill the spa with clean water and heat it. We recommend checking the water parameters in-store to ensure a clean water to swim. 

No matter what type of cleaning, it’s always more pleasant to do it with the right tools. Here are some products that will help you ensure a good cleaning of your spa.  First, cleaning wipes, which are soap-free, can be used for both floating toys and pool accessories. We recommend that you never use household cleaning wipes for your spa or pool as they contain soap, which can damage your equipment.  Body oils or even creams may remain in your spa water after use. To remove them and do an effective cleaning, you can use the Zorbie or the Spa ball. Both products work in the same way. Let them soak in the spa water to trap oil residue and minimize foaming in the spa. When the Spa ball or Zombie sinks to the bottom of the spa, after 30 to 90 days, their absorption power is gone and you need to replace them.  If there is residue in the bottom of your spa, you can use a spa vacuum. Plug the opening at the end of the handle, immerse the vacuum into the water, remove your finger and let the suction action do its work. Debris is retained by the filter inside the vacuum as you let the water flow back into the spa. When the filter is full, just empty it, rinse it, and start the process again! 

Properly maintaining your spa also means cleaning and treating the acrylic and cover with well-adapted products. Depending on your superstore, two types of products will be available to you: the cover cleaner and acrylic cleaner or the Swirl Away. To keep your spa cover in good condition, it’s important to protect and treat it properly. To do this, you can use the cover cleaner or the Swirl Away. Both products are used in the same way. First, remove coarse dirt with a garden hose, then, section by section, spray a bit of cleaner and wipe it off with a clean, dry cloth in a rotating motion. They have the same purpose of cleaning and treating but also blocking the harmful effects of UV rays. To clean the acrylic, you can proceed in much the same way with the acrylic cleaner or the Swirl Away. Once the spa is empty, spray on a large area and leave it for a few minutes, especially if there are stubborn spots. Then, wipe everything off with a clean, dry cloth.

I will do you a favor by introducing the Toucan products. These are interesting products to simplify your pool maintenance and protect your equipment. Let’s start with the protection of your equipment. In this basket, you can see that the openings are quite large. It will retain the larger particles like dead leaves, but the finer ones will travel to the pump. Once they get to the pump, they may be retained by the pump basket, but if they’re very small, like thorns if you live near conifers, that can become dangerous for the equipment. A good way to prevent this issue is to use these small protectors, which are filters that you can add to your skimmer basket. There is a T-shaped fastener that you’ll insert on the bottom of the skimmer. Then, you’ll stretch the filter and place it around the skimmer basket. When it’s full, you can replace it or clean it. Here I have sponges of different sizes that can be used to clean the waterline. The biggest one can be fixed on a pole so we could go deeper to rub. The smaller one is used manually on the waterline, steps, or even on some garden furniture. However, avoid surfaces that might be too fragile and test on a hidden area before. It will really ease maintenance and cleaning. Don’t get me wrong, yes it looks a lot like domestic cleaning products, but in these sponges, there is no soap so it won’t change the chemistry of the water. This is obviously what we want to avoid when we work in the pool. The last product is the Water Lily that you’ll deposit on the surface of the water, directly in the pool or in the skimmer if you prefer. Its primary purpose is to absorb and retain oily substances, especially sunscreen residue. It will absorb up to a month and it comes in a pack of six. Change your Water Lily every 3 to 5 weeks to ensure that you always have clean water. Toucan products are simple-to-use and will be of great help for the summer!

Si vous possédez un filtreur au sable, nous vous recommandons de changer le sable ou encore le verre de filtration aux 3 à 5 ans. Entre temps, il est important de faire de bons nettoyages si vous voyez que l'eau de votre piscine reste difficilement claire et limpide. Deux produits sont offerts à vous, soit le nettoyant à filtre ou le Filter Brite. Nos conseillés pourront vous donner le bon produit. Pour le nettoyant à filtre, le procédé varie si votre équipement est près ou éloigné de la piscine. Pour un équipement à proximité, vous devez éteindre le moteur, ouvrir l'écumoire et verser le produit à l'intérieur. Le produit doit voyager jusque dans le filtreur, il faut donc rallumer la pompe. 5 secondes seulement suffiront et éteignez la pompe à nouveau. Le produit doit ensuite rester dans le filtreur et faire son action de nettoyage pendant 8 heures. Lorsque le produit a reposé le temps nécessaire, il faut l'évacuer en faisant un backwash (lavage à contre-courant). Si l'équipement est éloigné de la piscine, le produit devra être versé dans la crépine de la pompe. Pour ouvrir la crépine de la pompe, référez-vous à notre tutoriel sur le nettoyage du panier de la pompe. Lorsque le produit est versé, rallumez la pompe jusqu'à temps que vous ne voyez plus de liquide rose à l'intérieur, ce qui voudra dire qu'il est rendu dans le filtreur. Une fois de plus, laissez agir pendant 8 heures. Pour évacuer le produit, vous devez faire un backwash. Avant d'ouvrir la pompe, mettez la poignée en position backwash. Lorsque c'est fait, vous pouvez rallumer la pompe. Notez que ce backwash prendra plus de temps qu'à la normale, soit un 2 à 5 minutes, jusqu'à ce que l'eau soit suffisament claire. Il est donc important d'avoir un niveau d'eau plus élevé qu'à la normale puisque beaucoup d'eau sera évacuée durant ce nettoyage. Lorsque le backwash est terminé, éteignez la pompe et remettez la poignée en mode filtration et vous pouvez finalement remettre la piscine en marche. Pour le Filter Brite, vous devez d'abord fermer la pompe, déposer le produit directement dans l'écumoire et ensuite rallumer la pompe jusqu'à ce que les cristaux ne soient plus du tout visibles. Éteignez la pompe et laissez le produit agir dans le filtreur durant 12 heures. Lorsque le trempage est terminé, placez la poignée en position backwash et une fois de plus, laissez le nettoyage à contre-courant se faire sur une période prolongée afin de bien éliminer le produit du filtreur. Éteignez la pompe à nouveau, remettez la poignée en mode filtration et finalement vous pouvez remettre la piscine en marche.

Les robots pour piscine hors terre sont très pratiques pour faciliter l'entretien de votre piscine. Un simple branchement qui ressemble grandement à la connexion que vous faites lorsque vous passez l'aspirateur dans votre piscine suffit. Afin de maximiser son potentiel, il est important de ramasser les feuilles au fond de la piscine et les gros débris à l'aide d'une puise ou d'un ramasse-feuille avant de mettre le robot à l'eau. Comme le panier d'écumoire n'est pas utilisé avec le branchement, il faut éviter d'encrasser et de bloquer le filtreur et la pompe avec les grosses saletés. Le retour d'eau de votre piscine doit aussi avoir une position optimale, c'est-à-dire à 45° vers le bas en sens opposé à l'écumoire. Et la valve trois voies doit être positionnée de façon à ce que l'eau qui se rend à la pompe provienne de l'écumoire seulement. Laissez fonctionner le robot quelques heures puis rebranchez votre système de filtration adéquatement afin que la filtration soit optimale pour votre piscine par la suite.

Avec tous les accessoires que nous accumulons pour entretenir la piscine, l'idéal est de se munir d'un accessoire de rangement afin de mettre de l'ordre et de retrouver rapidement et facilement tout ce dont nous avons besoin lorsque vient le temps de nettoyer la piscine. Brosse, tête d'aspirateur, ramasse-feuille, puise, perche, boyau d'aspirateur, etc. Vous pourrez ranger facilement tout le nécessaire à l'entretien de votre piscine.
