FAQ

The quantity depends on the water volume and the type of algaecide used. Generally, a weekly dose indicated on the label is added (often between 25 and 50 mL per 10,000 L for maintenance). For initial treatment or after an algae problem, the dose can be doubled according to the manufacturer's recommendations. It is always best to follow the product instructions to avoid foaming or unnecessary overconsumption.

Yes. Algaecide is compatible with salt water pools because it doesn't interfere with the salt cell or chlorine production. In fact, it can be particularly useful in salt water pools, where chlorine production can fluctuate depending on temperature and sunlight. Algaecide acts as an additional protective measure to prevent algae growth between production cycles.

To apply the algaecide, pour the recommended amount directly into the pool, preferably around the perimeter, with the pump running. Then let it circulate for several hours to ensure the product is evenly distributed. If you are treating an early algae bloom, brush the walls before application to maximize effectiveness. Never mix algaecide and chlorine in the same bucket.

Algaecide is primarily used as a preventative measure. It is added once a week during the season to prevent algae growth, especially during hot periods, after heavy rain, or when there is a lot of swimming. It can also be added after opening the pool, as well as after a shock treatment, to enhance protection. Algaecide is not designed to replace chlorine, but to help keep the water clear and prevent problems before they occur.

Yes, they can be used together, as they have complementary functions: chlorine disinfects and algaecide prevents algae growth. However, they should never be mixed in the same container; add them separately to the pool with the pump running.
