Measure the available space

Measure the available space

Measure the width and depth of the driveway where the shelter will be installed, allowing for the necessary clearances. This will help you determine whether a single-width or double-width shelter is best suited.

Measure the width of your vehicle

Measure the width of your vehicle

Measure the widest part of your vehicle, including side mirrors and any lateral accessories.

Measure the length of your vehicle

Measure the length of your vehicle

Measure from the front bumper to the rear bumper, including accessories such as a bike rack or hitch if applicable.

Measure the height of your vehicle

Measure the height of your vehicle

Measure from the ground to the highest point of the vehicle, taking into account antennas, roof bars, cargo boxes, racks, or any other installed accessories.

Allow for a safety margin

Allow for a safety margin

Leave about 60 cm (2 ft.) on each side of the vehicle to open the doors and move around easily. Also allow for extra clearance above the vehicle to prevent contact with the structure, especially if your vehicle has a high roof or added accessories.

All car shelters come with standard U-anchors, which are the basic anchors included with purchase.

However, these anchors are often insufficient to withstand the harsh weather conditions of Québec.

That’s why we recommend considering a few additional options to reinforce the stability of your shelter.

OPTION 1 – Permanent Anchors

These anchors are fixed directly into the ground and provide strong, durable stability.

Shelter Size Permanent Anchors Number of Sections (± 4–5 ft each) Layout
8' 4 2 sections 2 anchors per side
12' and 15' 4 3 sections 2 anchors per side
16' 4 4 sections 2 anchors per side
20' 4 4 or 5 sections 2 anchors per side
24' and 25' 6 5 or 6 sections 2 anchors per side
28' and 30' 6 6 or 7 sections 3 anchors per side
32' and 35' 6 7 or 8 sections 3 anchors per side
36' 8 9 sections 4 anchors per side
40' 8 8 or 10 sections 4 anchors per side

OPTION 2 – Temporary Anchors (Concrete Blocks)

You can purchase these at most hardware stores or local suppliers.
Trévi recommends using 6 blocks per section of 4 to 5 feet, which equals 3 blocks on each side.

Shelter Size Concrete Blocks Number of Sections (± 4–5 ft each) Layout
8' 12 2 sections 3 blocks per side × 2 sections
12' and 15' 18 3 sections 3 blocks per side × 3 sections
16' 24 4 sections 3 blocks per side × 4 sections
20' 30 4 or 5 sections 3 blocks per side × 5 sections
24' and 25' 36 5 or 6 sections 3 blocks per side × 6 sections
28' and 30' 42 6 or 7 sections 3 blocks per side × 7 sections
32' and 35' 48 7 or 8 sections 3 blocks per side × 8 sections
36' 54 9 sections 3 blocks per side × 9 sections
40' 60 8 or10 sections 3 blocks per side × 10 sections

OPTION 3 – Wind Straps

Easy installation
They are installed horizontally, about 3–4 feet from the ground, and are not dependent on the shelter’s height.
Simply attach two straps per shelter, one on each end.

Available sizes and compatibility

  • 22’ → for shelters 10’6’’ to 12’ wide (2 straps required)

  • 33’ → for shelters 16’ to 18’ wide (2 straps required)

  • 43’ → for shelters 20’ wide (2 straps required)

How to Properly Anchor Your Car Shelter?

Given the severity of Quebec winters, it is strongly recommended to reinforce the basic anchoring system included with every Trevi car shelter by adding another type of anchor.

  • Concrete blocks
  • Anti-wind straps
  • Permanent anchors

With one of these additional anchoring solutions, your shelter will stay securely in place throughout the winter.

Oui.
